Leesburg Humane Society Announces New Program, Forever Home Pet Trust

(Isstories Editorial):- Leesburg, Florida Apr 2, 2024 (Issuewire.com) – The Leesburg Humane Society announces a new program that encourages every pet owner to plan in advance for their pet and ask themselves, “What will happen to my pet if something happens to me?”

It is estimated that over 500,000 pets are placed in shelters annually due to the passing of their owner and there are very limited resources nationwide for on-site, lifetime care of pets.  Most shelters have programs to rehome the pets but there are very few organizations that will provide a physical location for the pets to live out their lives.  Forever Home Pet Trust is not only for the elderly or ill, but for every pet owner and is available to anyone, nationwide.

Education is a key part of the program, encouraging every pet owner to plan in advance for their pet, whether they use Forever Home Pet Trust or make other plans for their pet.  Forever Home Pet Trust provides a physical location, where the pets can live out their lives on a separate property next to the Leesburg Humane Society shelter property.  Pets will reside in homes with staff, who will reside on the property so that pets maintain the life to which they are accustomed.  There is also an option for pets to be placed in a new home, if the owner decides they prefer this option and these pets will also reside on the new property until an appropriate home is found.
