Explore the 1900s Iconic Structures through the Modern Era with Forrest Oldham, California Covered Bridges Pre 1900’s

(Isstories Editorial):- Woodland, California Mar 21, 2024 (Issuewire.com) – Architectural designs and structures in the past that still exist in the present are the new trends in the architectural sector or construction industry. It highlights the sturdiness of the materials used to be given quality-wise output that lasted into the 2000s. Iconic ruins and structures in the past are now considered tourist sites or must-visit sites in the present. There is still a reason why it is still present. Historically, many of these structures were the groundbreaking programs of that certain place where it was built.

Forrest Oldham, California Covered Bridges Pre 1900’s is a nonfiction narrative that entails the personal encounters of the author with the structures as the field trip leader for a photo club he joined. While he took his fellow photographers only to several of the structures, he set a personal goal to photograph as many of the other California Covered Bridges as he could during his travels about the state. He learned photography from a teenager old friend who had a Brownie camera and progressed to film SLR cameras and ultimately to Digital SLR. It is the latter that he photographed the 80 or so bridges, many newer than the year 1900. This is Forrest’s first attempt at writing a book which he limited to the Golden Rush era bridges with the desire for the book to be a semi-tabletop piece to serve as an introduction to these fine, sturdy, structures.

“Oldham acknowledges that his book only begins to document its subject, but it points toward a more thorough study. The heart of the book lies in its crisp and well composed photographs of the bridges’ exteriors and interiors.”
