Join Community Impact at Columbia University’s Inaugural Public Service Celebration – Award Breakfast

(Isstories Editorial):- New York City, New York Mar 19, 2024 (Issuewire.com) – Community Impact (CI) at Columbia University invites the public to attend its inaugural Public Service Celebration & Award Breakfast. The event will spotlight the work of education innovators expanding access to education and student civic engagement in the local community. It will take place on April 19, 2024, at Earl Hall on the Morningside campus of Columbia University, located at 2980 Broadway, New York, NY, from 9:00 am to 10:30 am.

For over forty years, Community Impact has been dedicated to advancing the public good by supporting individuals and families facing adversity in communities across New York City, particularly in Harlem, Washington Heights, Inwood, and the South/West Bronx. CI provides meaningful volunteer opportunities for over 900 Columbia University and Barnard College students to engage in high-quality service projects that advance education equity for school-age and lifelong learners in collaboration with 60 community partners. Annually, CI serves approximately 30,000 community members through 25 programs spanning Adult Education and Workforce Development, Emergency Services, Health Access, and Youth Enrichment.

“I have always wanted to impact and give back to my community,” Gabrielle Lamanno, Community Impact volunteer, reflected. “We have the privilege to be educated, and I want to provide equitable and affordable access to higher education and opportunities for those in disadvantaged communities.”
