Leveraging her extensive experience in maternal and neonatal mortality reviews, Dr. Kuppuswami created a mobile application called WONDER which stands for Women’s Obstetrical, Neonatal, Death Evaluation & Reduction. This application helps mothers to monitor themselves using simple biometric devices like BP apparatus, thermometer, and weighing scale and keying in important symptoms they might experience. If anything is abnormal, the system will alert the user to seek medical advice.

Back in the early days of her academic career, she graduated with her Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery degree from Stanley Medical College in India in 1971. She then went on to earn her Diploma in Gynaecology and Obstetrics from the University of Madras in 1973, after which she relocated to the United States.
Once there, Dr. Kuppuswami completed her medical degree at Cook County Hospital in Chicago, Illinois in 1982.
Subsequent to her education, she attained board certification in obstetrics and gynecology from the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology (ABOG). The ABOG is a non-profit organization that provides board certification for practicing obstetricians and gynecologists in the United States and Canada.
On the Medical Staff at Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital (1988 – 2016), it was there that Dr. Kuppuswami also served as Chairman of the Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology (2003-2005), Vice Chairman of the Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology (1993-2002), and Chairman of the Clinical Quality Council within the Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology (1993 – 2002).
From the years of 1984 until 1987, she served as an Assistant Professor of Obstetrics & Gynecology at Chicago Medical School. Then, from 1987 until 1988, she took on the role of Associate Professor.
Distinguished with fellowship status, Dr. Kuppuswami served as a Fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (FACOG).
In addition, she served as a member of the American Medical Association and as an International Fellow of the Indian College of Obstetricians & Gynecologists.
Obstetrics and Gynecology is the medical specialty that encompasses the two subspecialties of obstetrics and gynecology. An obstetrician-gynecologist, or OB-GYN, is a healthcare professional who specializes in female reproductive health.
Throughout her line of work, Dr. Kuppuswami has appeared in several journals and spoken at several international professional organization venues.
