Meet Jan Jens – An Entrepreneur From Miami Who is Doing Everything He Can To Save The Planet

Jan Jens makes sure to set a budget & his time aside for charity work.

There is no denying that our planet needs saving. Althemore now, because it is the only planet we have and IT IS IN DANGER. From toxic, foggy skies to polluted oceans, we have a lot to reverse and scientists claim that we do not have much time left. Some argue that we have as less as 12 years to reverse the damage done to the earth; else life might cease to exist.

In such a time, we need our leaders, our visionaries to step up and inspire others to step up too. One such visionary is Jan Jens who moved to Miami from Germany to set up Jatina Group, a concierge company that caters to the ultra-wealthy. They have served celebrities like Leonardo Dicaprio, Justin Bieber, Drake, etc.

Jatina Group exclusively offers Villa rentals in Miami. They have already made several million in sales through platforms like HomeAway and Airbnb in 2018 alone and crossed $7.5 million in revenue for 2018. The projection for 2019 is in the $10.5 million – $11 million range. However, behind all this glam, Jan is a person who cares about the planet.

Miami is famous for its beaches, and Jan Jens makes sure that the beaches are clean, at least he tries! Every year, nearly 8 million tons of plastic are dumped into our oceans, a number that is expected to increase tenfold by 2025. Also, according to the World Economic Forum, if we keep producing plastic at predicted rates and continue to dispose of it improperly, the amount of plastic pollution in our oceans will outweigh total fish abundance by 2050. It is a pervasive problem that is impacting marine life, human health, and the global economy, and our reliance on single-use plastics means increased carbon dioxide, a major greenhouse gas linked to climate change.

Jan spends about 2-3 times every month to clean the beaches either just by him or with others. If you are interested in getting involved, take a look here www.volunteercleanup.org or grab a bucket from home and start picking up trash! Jan says that it gives him a good tan and also serves as a nice 5-mile walk each cleanup! It is necessary for us to keep our beaches clean if we want our oceans to be cleaned and help marine life survive. What happens is that when the tide lowers, it takes all the trash laying on the beach into the ocean and damages all aquatic life. You can check out the “great pacific garbage patch” to understand the extent of damage possible.

Jan says, “It’s sad to see what’s happening all over the world to the planet and animals. Most humans have no respect for nature at all.” He also takes his time every month to feed the homeless in Miami. Not only has that he also donated every month to the Animal Shelter in Miami. He also has a few suggestions for things anyone can do to save the planet on their part –

  1. Have a Vegetarian Day. You don’t have to give up meat for life, but try to commit to one meat-free day a week. It takes 2,500 gallons of water to produce a single pound of beef. And each hamburger that comes from animals on the ex-forestry ground is responsible for the destruction of fifty-five square feet of forest.
  2. Don’t Use Plastic Bags. Plastic bags are not biodegradable, nor are they recyclable. They sit in landfills where they often end up polluting the ocean and infiltrating food sources. Use a stronger, reusable bag.
  3. Cancel Your Paper Bank Statements / Bills and go PAPERLESS! If every US household opted to receive online statements rather than paper, it would save enough money to send 17,000 college graduates to university each year. Some banks will also pay you a dollar a month to opt out of paper statements.

There are several such ways to help the planet in your way, but the most important thing to remember is that you can start right now. While it might not seem like carpooling a couple of blocks to your office will make much of a difference, over time, all these changes add up to a positive impact on the environment. No effort is too small – so pick one of these new habits and take action today!

We need to take a pledge towards better, cleaner earth, and this can only be done if we do it together. Kudos to visionaries like Jan Jens for inspiring positive change.
