In the current scenario, people are now very much obsessed with television shows. It can be even more fruitful with the help of games. That is why Netflix has come up with the idea of making games on television shows. This way, audiences will be even more connected with the shows.

As games have an integral part of most of the audiences, now Netflix is thinking about building and launching games for all of their subscribers. They have also said that they will start working on this proposal very soon and will try to launch it in a few years.

The vice president of external games at Netflix, Leanne Loombe has stated ‘Games are one of the biggest forms of entertainment out there today, so it really is just a natural extension for Netflix to include them as part of the subscription’. She has also added ‘The lines between the different ways we enjoy our entertainment are blurring. When you’re in that moment, looking to sit and watch a movie or be more active and play a game, we want to make sure we have something for you’.

On this matter, Leanne has said more ‘Our goal is to have a game on the service for everyone. Not focus on making one big experience, but rather a selection of titles that members can choose to play’.

Games on Netflix have been available since the November of 2021. But it has never gotten much popular or garnered a huge wave of users. That is why, now the streaming platform is taking the initiative to interact with more users through interesting games. For that reason, they have come up with the idea of building games of major hit television shows like Stranger Things, Squid Games, Bridgerton, and much more.

It will be a much more interesting approach to the users, which will lead them to build more engagement with their users. But on the other hand, the games journalist Shay Thompson has said that the industry has been ‘littered with the failed attempts’. She has also said ‘When other mainstream entertainment organizations have tried to enter the game space they’ve really struggled’.

Shay has added more by saying ‘I think it’s often down to companies fundamentally misunderstanding what it is about games as a form of entertainment that make them so compelling to players…Amazon Games is an example of this, they’ve had titles like Lost Ark and Crucible with big budgets but those titles lacked the creativity and uniqueness that we’ve come to expect from the games space. That’s a significant reason why those titles haven’t ended up making a serious impact’.

‘Focusing on the mobile games first is a clever strategy that could work in Netflix favour…However giving gamers what they want, not what a big organizations think they want, will be the key to making this work. That is creativity and being unique’, said Thompson. Therefore, it will be only understandable when the games are launched properly. Otherwise, it will be much more difficult to address something.
