Grand Millennium Muscat Marks Ramadan with Heart warming CSR Initiative for Children with Down Syndrome

(Isstories Editorial):- Bawshar, Masqat Mar 9, 2026 (Issuewire.com) – In the true spirit of Ramadan, Grand Millennium Muscat embraced compassion, togetherness, and generosity through a heartfelt CSR initiative under the Millennium Green Path program, dedicated to children with Down syndrome at its renowned Bahriyat Restaurant on March 5.

Organised in collaboration with the Oman Down Syndrome Association, the hotel welcomed children and their families for a warm and meaningful Iftar experience. The evening honoured each child’s unique abilities, inspired confidence, and strengthened community bonds through a series of engaging activities.

The children were encouraged to express themselves, build self-assurance, and enjoy moments of joy within a supportive and inclusive environment. This initiative not only aimed to inspire confidence in the children but also reinforced the importance of empathy, acceptance, and unity, reflecting the true spirit of Ramadan.

The highlight of the evening was the Interactive little bakers’ decoration activity, where the children stepped into the roles of junior chefs under the guidance of the hotel’s expert culinary team. From decorating treats to proudly presenting their creations, the activity provided a fun and nurturing environment that encouraged creativity, independence, and a sense of accomplishment.

Following the culinary session, the hotel commemorated the beloved Omani tradition of Qaranqasho. The children assembled custom Fanoos lanterns before embarking on a sweet-collection experience across the hotel’s key venues. The evening culminated in a community Iftar that allowed families to connect and share in the magic of the season.

Commenting on the significance of the initiative, Ahmed Ashfaq, Taskforce General Manager said, “Hospitality is about people; it’s about creating spaces where everyone feels seen, valued and celebrated. These children inspired us with their joy, resilience, and individuality. We were truly honoured to welcome them and their families for an evening that was both festive and empowering.”

The initiative reflects Grand Millennium Muscat’s continued commitment to inclusion and meaningful hospitality. It aligns with the mission of the Oman Down Syndrome Association, which has grown from a support group of 12 children in 2003 to a national institution supporting over 410 children today. By hosting this event, Grand Millennium Muscat reaffirmed its support for ODSA’s vision of “enabling an inclusive and fulfilling life for individuals with Down syndrome.”

It is pertinent to note that the Oman Down Syndrome Association’s journey began in 2003 as a small parents’ support group of just 12 children. Officially registered in 2014 and launched in 2015, the Association now supports more than 410 registered children and 200 members, championing its vision of enabling an inclusive and fulfilling life for individuals with Down syndrome.

As World Down Syndrome Day approaches on March 21, this initiative serves as a gentle reminder that inclusion starts with understanding, grows with opportunity, and thrives in communities that come together with empathy and purpose.
