“Having Mark as our National Board Chair brings exactly the kind of grounded, experienced leadership Umbrella ND needs as we grow. As a fellow autistic and ADHD leader, he understands our community from the inside out — not as an observer, but as someone who has lived this. His background leading complex systems at organizations like Amazon, Indeed, and Bazaarvoice, combined with his work founding Neurodivergence at Work, means he brings both the strategic vision and the deep community commitment that will help us build something lasting. We aren’t just gaining a board chair — we are gaining a true partner in this work.” stated Angela Locashio, Executive Director.
Mark Sones is a technology leader and neurodiversity advocate with over 15 years of experience designing and leading complex systems. As an autistic and ADHD leader, he brings a values-driven, community-centered perspective to advancing neurodiversity advocacy, education, and sustainable organizational growth.
“I’m honored to step into the role of Board Chair at Umbrella ND and to support a mission that centers neurodivergent voices, lived experience, and community-created knowledge. UND has built something deeply meaningful by listening first and responding with care, advocacy, and accessible resources. I’m excited to work alongside the board, staff, and volunteers to strengthen the organization’s operational foundation so that their incredible work can be coordinated more effectively, sustained over time, and supported by stable funding. My hope is to help create the conditions that allow this mission to grow with integrity, clarity, and long-term impact.” – Mark Sones
Mr. Sones is the founder of Neurodivergence at Work and holds multiple graduate degrees from the University of Texas and Texas A&M University.
