Reality Check for District 11: Jeremy Wineberg Launches Campaign to Restore the Westside

After losing his home in the 2025 fire, Jeremy Wineberg is running to stop the decline of District 11—mobilizing the next generation to reject out-of-state money and rebuild our neighborhoods.

More on Isstories:

Jeremy Wineberg, a Pacific Palisades resident and advocate, formally announced his candidacy for Los Angeles City Council District 11 today with a direct message to voters: It is time to face the truth about our district.

This election is personal. In 2025, Wineberg watched his own home burn to the ground in the Palisades fire. He didn’t just lose a house; he saw firsthand how the city fails its residents when they need it most.

“I’m running because I know what it feels like to be let down by this city,” said Wineberg. “We need to be honest about what we are seeing. In the Palisades, we drive past empty lots where family homes stood before the fire. In our commercial districts, we see ‘For Lease’ signs replacing local businesses that can no longer survive here. Our streets are dirty, and our public spaces are neglected. Traci Park asked for four years to fix this, but the problems have only compounded. We aren’t just stalled; we are sliding backward.”

THE PROBLEM WITH OUTSIDE MONEY

Wineberg warns that while the incumbent presides over this decline, opponent Faizah Malik represents a different threat: a campaign funded by people with no skin in the game.

“You cannot represent a neighborhood if you are funded by strangers,” Wineberg stated. “Faizah Malik is raising money from New York and out-of-state donors. These people do not drive our streets. They don’t have to look at the empty lots or the closed businesses. They are investing in a political ideology, not in our community’s recovery. When a candidate takes money from outsiders, their loyalty lies with the check, not the resident. I am refusing that path because I want to answer only to you.”

MOBILIZING THE NEXT GENERATION

Wineberg is calling on the 18-40 demographic–the young voters and creators who are inheriting this city–to finally take ownership of their future.

“The next generation is tired of being told to wait their turn while the city crumbles around them,” Wineberg said. “We are the ones who will have to live with these failures. It is time for new energy that understands the modern world and demands actual results.”

A CALL TO ACTION

Wineberg’s request to the community is simple: Don’t accept the decline.

“You want to know how you can support me? Go to the polls and vote. Get out there,” said Wineberg. “We cannot sit back and watch our neighborhoods fade away. I am asking you to vote for the reality you see with your own eyes, and for the only candidate who is truly one of you.”

THE PRIORITIES

Stop the Bleeding: Immediate triage for the local economy. We must cut the costs and red tape that are forcing our small businesses to close.

Restore the Standard: A zero-tolerance policy for filth and neglect. The Westside must be safe, clean, and livable again.

Accountability for the Fire: The empty lots in the Palisades are a monument to city failure. Wineberg demands strict oversight of utilities and a disaster response system that works.
