Brown, professionally known as “La Princess Becky,” is a New Orleans native who was residing at Las Dalias Residential Complex in San Juan at the time of the incident. According to court filings, on December 2, 2024, Brown was contacted by a leasing coordinator, Yuan Ramirez, and was requested to appear at the leasing office under the representation that documentation related to her rental agreement required her signature.
When Brown arrived at the leasing office at approximately 12:24 p.m. with her daughters–Gracey Harris (11) and Stacey Brown (7)–she was met by members of the San Juan Police Department, according to statements provided by the family. Brown and her children were taken into custody without restraints in connection with allegations involving a reported robbery of an Uber driver. The District Attorney reportedly dismissed the allegations the same day, citing misidentification, according to legal records.
Despite the dismissal, Brown was not released and was transferred to Bayamón Correctional Facility, where she alleges she was detained for approximately three months. Court filings state that Brown was held without proper inmate registration, limited access to legal counsel, and minimal communication with the outside world, including periods of solitary confinement.
During Brown’s detention, the Puerto Rico Department of the Family (DFS/CPS) assumed custody of her two children. Family members state they were not promptly notified, prompting Brown’s biological sister, Stephenique T. Brown (30), to travel to Puerto Rico independently to obtain legal representation and seek custody of her nieces. According to court filings, despite cooperation from one biological father, Grayson Harris (27), the children were not released to family members.
Brown was released on February 7, 2025, at which time she learned her children remained in state custody. Subsequent judicial and administrative review identified procedural irregularities in the DFS case, including a 280-day ratification period, exceeding the 60-day statutory limit, as reflected in court records. The presiding judge in the matter is Judge Rafael Ramirez.
Following these findings, an oversight review involving Alurat Corporations identified additional deficiencies in the handling of the case. Court dockets reflect that multiple involved parties have since failed to appear at scheduled hearings.
Brown remains in contact with her children and continues to pursue their reunification through the court system. Civil lawsuits totaling $70 million USD have reportedly been filed against the Puerto Rico Department of Justice, the Office of the Governor, and the Department of Family, alleging constitutional and civil rights violations. The family is seeking the immediate return of Gracey Harris and Stacey Brown and their reunification with their mother and extended family in Texas, USA, pending judicial approval.
Alurat Corporations, a for-profit organization providing advocacy and case coordination services for individuals and families navigating complex legal proceedings, is currently assisting Brown and her family throughout the ongoing legal process. The organization emphasizes the importance of understanding local housing policies, child welfare regulations, and legal protections when relocating or traveling internationally with minors.https://www.instagram.com/chocolateeee_beauty
