Inspiration Behind the Book
The title The Last Keeper of the Light was inspired by an NPR interview with a former lighthouse keeper, during which the interviewer remarked, “So, you are the last keeper of the light.” The phrase resonated deeply with Broadwell and became the foundation for the novel’s central theme.
The book is dedicated to the Hopi people and draws from their mythology surrounding the Blue Kachina.
