About the Author
Anne Ward Crocker was born in New Jersey and grew up in Cambridge, Maryland. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Dietetics from the University of Maryland in 1951 and worked for Marriott and the Washington Gaslight Company during the 1950s.
After marrying in 1956, Anne devoted herself to raising her family in Herndon, Virginia. Her life experiences–including profound loss and the blessings of motherhood–have deeply shaped her perspective on resilience, faith, and gratitude.
A lifelong learner, Anne has taken numerous courses through the Northern Virginia Community College, the Smithsonian Resident Associate Program, the Fairfax County Adult Education Program and the National Genealogical Society. Her wide-ranging interests include nature preservation, genealogy, creative writing, ecclesiastical embroidery and found-object art. She also authored Neighbor To Neighbor Cookbook (1982) with recipes collected while writing a bi-weekly recipe column for her local newspaper.
Anne’s love for storytelling and nature shines through in her debut children’s book. Begun in 1979 and completed in 2020, Close Friends’ Cathedral Adventure is a joyful testament to her curiosity, creativity, and enduring faith.
