Rebecca earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Cincinnati, followed by a Master of Science in Parent/Child Nursing from the University of Michigan. She further expanded her expertise with a Postgraduate Certificate in Women’s Health Nursing from the University of Rochester School of Nursing. Currently, she is serving in a locum capacity at Community Health Centers of America In Fresno, California. She has continued to serve Golden Valley Health Centers in Modesto, where essential care to patients and families is provided while advocating for patient-centered healthcare practices.

Throughout her career, Rebecca has been a fervent advocate for nurse practitioners, championing legislative efforts that support the ability of nurse practitioners to practice to the full extent of their education and training. Her passion for advanced practice nurse education is evident in her previous roles as adjunct faculty at St John Fisher College and Nazareth College School of Nursing. She taught at Monroe Community College, where she imparted knowledge on ” Clinical Issues in Child Development and Health.”She has precepted both Pediatric and Family Nurse Practitioner students in her clinical settings. 

Rebecca’s commitment extends beyond education. She has been instrumental in fostering community programs, including parenting co-ops, support groups, and breastfeeding initiatives, notably contributing to the Rochester Breastfeeding Coalition and the patient education programs at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester, New York, where the breastfeeding initiatives have now become well established. Her dedication to maternal-child health shines through her work with high-risk pregnancies, NICU infants, and school-based health programs.

Notably, Rebecca played a pivotal role in establishing the first elementary school-based health center in her city, a testament to her lifelong mission of improving access to compassionate, evidence-based care for children and families. This initiative has provided essential health services to children, ensuring they receive the care they need to thrive. Improvements in academic test scores improved dramatically. The health center’s motto was coined:  Healthy Bodies + Healthy Minds = Success in School. 

As Rebecca Ledwin continues her impactful work at Community Health Centers, her unwavering commitment to holistic and inclusive health care remains a guiding principle. Her leadership and advocacy serve as an inspiration to healthcare professionals and communities alike, underscoring the vital role of nurse practitioners in advancing public health.
