The forum brought together over a hundred representatives from government, business leaders, senior corporate executives, and cultural figures from both China and Malaysia. They engaged in in-depth discussions centered on the globalization pathways for Chinese enterprises and China-Malaysia industrial and cultural cooperation, exploring a new future of symbiotic growth and shared success.

The forum received support from the Malaysia Ministry of Entrepreneur and Cooperativs Development (MECD) and the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture Malaysia. Mr. Lee Thai Hung, Deputy Director General of Tourism Malaysia, representing the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture Malaysia, delivered the opening address. In his speech, he noted that this year marks a new starting point following the 50th anniversary of Malaysia-China diplomatic relations, with bilateral ties entering a “new golden 50 years.” He emphasized the increasingly fundamental role of people-to-people exchanges and mutual understanding in bilateral cooperation. He commended Phoenix TV for building this communication platform, believing that through media and cultural connections, more resilient long-term momentum can be injected into economic and trade collaboration.

Following the opening remarks, leading corporate representatives from China and Malaysia delivered keynote speeches, sharing cutting-edge insights and practical experiences on Chinese enterprise globalization.

Dato’ Eddie Ong Choo Meng, CEO of Hextar Group, delivered a keynote speech titled “Co-creating Prosperity.” He outlined the transformation of the 40-year-old Hextar Group from its roots in traditional sectors like fertilizers to its current status as a large diversified company with multiple business segments and nearly 4,000 employees. He also analyzed the future potential for complementary advantages and collaborative innovation between Chinese and Malaysian enterprises, drawing on examples from Hextar’s deep cooperation with Chinese companies like Luckin Coffee.

Mr Justin Li, President of HONOR South Pacific, shared his insights in a speech titled “Through the Lens of Mobile Technology : HONOR’s Cross-Cultural Insights”. He discussed HONOR’s globalization strategy and brand-building approach in overseas markets, particularly focusing on integrating into the local Malaysian ecosystem and resonating with young consumers. He highlighted HONOR’s collaboration with Tourism Malaysia to promote “Visit Malaysia Year 2026,” a pathway to commercial success built on deep integration with local culture.

Mr.Simon Chen, General Manager of Yonyou Malaysia, presented a speech titled “Expanding Outward, Cultivating Inward: Digital Infrastructure Opportunities Behind the Wave of Chinese Globalization”. He focused on how digital tools and platforms serve as essential infrastructure for overseas-expanding enterprises to enhance management efficiency and achieve localized, compliant operations, as well as the global business opportunities within this domain.

In a dedicated forum segment on the globalization of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), Phoenix TV host Nicholas Li introduced the large-scale documentary project “The Healing Path,” produced by Phoenix TV. He then engaged in an in-depth dialogue with one of the documentary’s featured guests, Dr. Neoh Karen, a well-known Malaysian Chinese TCM practitioner, on the topic of “Opportunities and Thresholds for TCM Globalization.”

The forum concluded with a thought-provoking roundtable discussion titled “Towards Shared Prosperity: How Cultural Exchange Empowers China-Malaysia Collaboration”.

Participants included Tan Sri Dato Sri ONG Tee Keat, President of Belt and Road Initiative Caucus for Asia Pacific (BRICAP) ; Dato’ Abdul Majid Khan, President of Malaysia-China Friendship Association, Former Malaysian Ambassador to China; Dato’ Kuik Cheng Kang, Editor-in-Chief, Media Chinese International Limited (MCIL)Group; and Ms. Jenny Tu, Target Media CEO. The guests provided deep insights from diverse perspectives including policy communication, cultural connectivity, the role of media, and commercial practices. They elaborated on how cultural soft power can inject enduring momentum into bilateral economic and trade cooperation, building a more resilient partnership.

Following the forum, attendees continued their in-depth exchanges during a luncheon.

This forum marks the first time the Phoenix international event brand, “Phoenix Go Glocal” has been held in Malaysia. Launched in Indonesia in December 2024, “Phoenix Go Glocal” aims to become the “preferred international communication platform for enterprises going global” and has attracted significant attention from expanding companies.
