Raised in the Southside of Queens, Larry’s creative journey began with poetry and music, eventually transforming into a celebrated career as an MC. Under the name Blackout the Rebel, he earned critical acclaim for his lyricism and cultural insight. Since 2013, Larry has extended his storytelling prowess into broadcasting–first as the lead host of the acclaimed Darkside Radio, and now as co-host of the wrestling and sports podcast Bell 2 Bell.
His newest venture, What The Heart Wants, merges his passion for music, narrative, and emotional truth. Originally intended as a lyrical companion to an upcoming music album, the story evolved into a standalone novel that explores love, loyalty, and personal transformation. Each chapter was crafted to feel like a song–until the novel took on a life of its own, eventually becoming the core inspiration for the album instead.
“This project is deeply personal,” says Larry. “The characters, the settings, the relationships–they’re reflections of my own life and the people in it. I didn’t plan on being an author, but now that the book is here, I’m excited to share this part of my journey with the world.”
What The Heart Wants is more than just a love story. It’s a tribute to storytelling across mediums–from beats and bars to pages and paragraphs. Larry’s voice is authentic, soulful, and unafraid to dive into vulnerability. With this novel, he cements himself as a multi-dimensional artist with something timeless to say.
