More on Isstories:

Molly’s journey in the medical field is deeply rooted in her family’s legacy. Following in her mother’s footsteps as a registered nurse, Molly served as an Army medic for seven years before embarking on her nursing career. Since joining TVCC as a full-time faculty member in 2020, she has brought both her extensive knowledge and hands-on experience to the classroom, enthusiastically guiding the next generations of nurses.

Before joining TVCC full-time, Molly built her teaching foundation as a clinical adjunct for several colleges across Idaho, including the College of Western Idaho (CWI), Boise State University (BSU), and Idaho State University (ISU). These diverse educational experiences helped shape her approach to nursing education.

In addition to her teaching responsibilities, Molly continues to provide direct patient care at St. Luke’s Health System in Idaho, where she works part-time in both the Urgent Care and Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). This ongoing clinical work allows her to bring current, real-world healthcare experiences into the classroom.

In her role as an educator, Molly attributes her success to the unwavering support of her family and friends, who have been a source of inspiration throughout her journey. Outside of her professional life, she enjoys exploring the outdoors, spending quality time with her family, gardening, and pottery. Alongside her husband and family, Molly operates a micro farm in Star, Idaho, where they run a community-supported agriculture (CSA) program during the summer months. The couple are also proud parents of two children, ages 19 and 16.

Molly encourages any nurse to look into the field of nursing education and states, “We need nurse educators to help us shape our future nursing foundation. Current nurses can become part-time adjuncts in the clinical setting as well as the classroom. I encourage nurses in any specialty to explore the field of nursing education. You can make an impact on our profession!”

We are fortunate to have Molly Lightfield inspiring and equipping future nurses who will make a meaningful difference in their communities through compassionate, expert care.
