More on Isstories:

Actor, presenter, and producer Daniel Coll is returning to the stage in Fishlake–a powerful and thought-provoking production that reconnects him with his Yorkshire theater roots.

Well-known to television audiences for his role as DI Blackmore in Emmerdale and with appearances in Coronation Street, Billy Elliot the Musical, Les Misérables, and Braveheart, Coll’s return to live performance coincides with a busy year of filming, writing, and producing projects through his company Picture Point Films based in Sheffield.

Coll has recently returned from Ukraine and has finished two documentaries: “John Sweeney–Ukraine, Putin & Trump” and “Ordinary People: Ukraine,” exploring the courage and resilience of those caught up in war. Looking ahead, Daniel is developing new feature and television projects, including collaborations with Toyah Willcox and Peter Andre, both planned to film next year.

Daniel’s travel documentary series “Dan’s Travels” is now available on Tubi, attracting viewers across the UK, Europe, and the USA. He has just completed filming “Dan’s Travels Along the Seine,” documenting his voyage from Honfleur to Paris aboard his sailing boat Caroline. The series captures both the freedom and reflection of solo travel–blending humour, storytelling, and the charm of life on the water.

Fishlake is written by Jeremy Fletcher, a Fishlake resident whose own home was impacted by the 2019 floods. It offers a deeply personal account of what happened when the River Don broke its banks and nearly an entire village was submerged. The production blends verbatim testimony, music, movement, and narrative drama–drawing on the real voices of villagers, performed alongside a community choir and professional cast.

“I’m honored to play the role of David in this production,” says Daniel. “This story is about people who lost their homes but found each other–and I felt compelled to be part of that. It’s about resilience, community, and spirit with bags of humor.”
