Notably, Dennis has maintained a remarkable record of zero insertion-related central line-associated bloodstream infections (CLABSIs) for over three years, highlighting his dedication to patient safety and quality care.
In addition to his clinical responsibilities, Dennis has pioneered an ultrasound-guided IV (UGIV) training program that has become the standard at Harris Health. Dennis’s journey in nursing began with an Associate of Science in Nursing from Excelsior University, after which he earned his Registered Nurse credentials in 2012. Currently, he is furthering his education at Western Governors University, pursuing an RN-to-MSN Degree with a focus on Health and Health Care Administration/Management. His clinical specialization in vascular access underscores his dedication to improving patient outcomes through precision, innovation, and evidence-based practice.
A VA BC Certified Nurse Leader with over a decade of experience transforming vascular access, Dennis actively engages in professional development through his memberships in the American Nurses Association and the Association for Vascular Access. Dennis attributes his success to perseverance, continuous learning, and the guidance of mentors and colleagues. “Nursing is a field that demands resilience, teamwork, and compassion,” he reflects. “I’ve worked hard to stay current with evidence-based practice, but I’ve also leaned on collaboration and mentorship to grow. Most importantly, I attribute my success to always keeping the patient at the center of my decisions–when patient outcomes and safety guide me, it pushes me to keep improving.”
Outside of his professional life, Dennis draws inspiration from his diverse personal background as a former paratrooper, commercial diver, and paramedic. He is passionate about service and mentorship and enjoys spending quality time with his large family. In his free time, he pursues fitness, cycling, and archery, reflecting his commitment to health, focus, and discipline.
