The partnership is a continuation of Spirit of Math’s unwavering commitment to promote co-operation, inspire confidence and release the genius in every child all around the world. This collaboration will give Peruvian students the opportunity to showcase their abilities on an international stage, while growing their confidence and skills which they will need for future success.

The Grupo MATE is made up of mathematical Olympiad coaches, whose main goal is to train students who wish to improve in math Olympiads. Since 2013, the MATE Group has offered training sessions for students to help them perform better in national and international math Olympiads, such as the National School Mathematics Olympiad (ONEM), the May Olympiad, the Southern Cone Countries Mathematical Olympiad, the Ibero-American Mathematical Olympiad, the Rioplatense Mathematical Olympiad, the International Mathematical Olympiad, among others.
Since 2016, the training sessions have taken place in camps, allowing the students to live together and optimize their training in country houses located in the city of Chaclacayo (Lima). Most of the Grupo MATE students come from cities in the interior of the country (Peru) and also from abroad (in 2019, they had students from Bolivia and Venezuela; in 2020, they had a student from Paraguay; and in 2022, they had a student from Bolivia). Since 2017, Grupo MATE have also offered virtual training sessions, which have been attended not only by students from Peru, but also from Bolivia, Costa Rica, Paraguay, the Dominican Republic, and Venezuela.
The partnership is one of many collaborations Spirit of Math is undertaking with international organizations to bring the International Spirit of Math Contest to every corner of the world. Competitive events such as these offer children an excellent opportunity to develop important skills such as analysis, problem solving and critical thinking. They also get the personal satisfaction (and motivational boost) of tackling and conquering some of the hardest questions.
