(Isstories Editorial):- Tomah, Wisconsin Aug 21, 2025 (Issuewire.com) – Author Linda Dooks invites readers back into the compelling world of Rose Watson with the release of “Land of Opportunity (Book Two)”, a historical fiction novel that continues the remarkable story of a young woman’s pursuit of a better life in America during a time of rapid change and uncertainty.
It has been twelve years since Rose Watson left England, arriving as a migrant at Ellis Island, New York, with her shipboard friend Agnes. Life in America has transformed her–demanding resilience, hard work, and courage in a city shadowed by gang warfare.
Through the Charity Board Society, Rose aids new arrivals at Ellis Island, encountering heart-wrenching scenes of children arriving alone, abandoned by parents in the hope of offering them a chance at freedom from poverty. Rose’s own life has evolved–she finds love and security with her husband, Thomas Blackwood, and raises a family of her own.
