On July 19, Shincheonji fielded 25 athletes in the individual recognized poomsae division. Despite facing a condensed preparation period, each team member displayed focused discipline and high-level performance. Their efforts culminated in an impressive medal haul: 4 gold, 7 silver, and 14 bronze–meaning every participant returned home a medalist.
Gold medalist Lee Jun-wi reflected on the experience, saying: “Though training time was limited, I gave my all in the time I had. I’m thankful that my effort led to such a great result.”
Coach Kim Deok-hun praised the team’s resilience:“This was a high-caliber event featuring top athletes from Korea and abroad. Our team performed admirably under pressure. Moving forward, we aim to train more strategically and systematically to elevate our performance even further next year.”
This latest success follows another standout showing earlier this month at the 2025 Kim Un-Yong Cup International Open Taekwondo Championships in Busan. There, all 12 Shincheonji athletes secured medals–2 gold, 4 silver, and 5 bronze–marking back-to-back full-team podium finishes at major international events.
The team’s achievements build upon a strong foundation. At the 2024 Mungyeong World Taekwondo Hanmadang, 5 of 18 Shincheonji competitors received awards in key events such as front kick and power breaking–underscoring the team’s consistent excellence and solid training system.
Beyond the medals, Shincheonji’s sustained success reflects a deeper commitment to cultural exchange, community engagement, and holistic well-being. Excelling in Taekwondo’s homeland and on the international stage, the team plays an active role in promoting Korea’s martial arts heritage and enhancing its cultural profile abroad.
Looking ahead, Shincheonji Church remains dedicated to cultivating athletic potential, promoting health through sports, and enriching community life. With strategic development and increased participation, the Taekwondo team is poised to expand its influence and continue achieving excellence on the world stage.
In every respect, the Shincheonji Taekwondo Team embodies discipline, faith, and global citizenship–setting a high standard for faith-driven athletic achievement and promising even greater accomplishments in the future.
