(Isstories Editorial):- Los Angeles, California Jun 24, 2025 (Issuewire.com) – In a recent exclusive interview titled Building Better Systems: A Spotlight on Henry Mauriss, media executive and social entrepreneur Henry Mauriss shares the philosophy guiding his dual impact ventures: ClearTV and Joshua’s Collective. At the heart of both is a quiet, persistent belief–that true impact happens when you meet people where they are.

“I watch how people actually behave when they’re not trying to consume media,” Mauriss says in the interview. “Waiting rooms, terminals–these are the places that tell you the truth. What catches their eye, what soothes them, what they ignore. That’s where we start.”

This same observational care shapes how he approaches one of the toughest challenges facing the country today: homelessness.

Mauriss founded Joshua’s Collective in 2025, a California-based nonprofit built not on slogans, but on systems. The organization provides integrated support–mental health care, addiction recovery, job training, and stable housing–with the goal of long-term transformation, not just emergency response.

“There’s a lot of good intention in this space, but not always a lot of structure,” Mauriss says. “If we want lasting change, we have to build systems that are practical, trackable, and human.”

He points to NIMBYism–Not In My Backyard–as one of the largest barriers to progress. In Los Angeles County, the number of shelter beds actually decreased slightly from 2017 to 2022, despite a 19% increase in the homeless population. For Mauriss, this disconnect is proof that goodwill isn’t enough.

“Everyone wants to help the homeless,” he explains, “just not next door. That fear and resistance can stall real progress.”

Mauriss brings a disciplined mindset to Joshua’s Collective, mirroring his work with ClearTV. In both spaces, he emphasizes context. At ClearTV, it’s about delivering content that feels right in the moment–calming clips in hospitals, lively highlights in airports. At Joshua’s Collective, it’s about responding to what each person truly needs to move forward.

“Giving someone a house doesn’t always fix the problem,” he notes. “You have to address what got them there. You have to rebuild from the inside out.”

Mauriss’s calm, systems-first approach offers a grounded model for how we can think bigger about helping others. And he challenges all of us–not just governments or organizations–to do more than agree with the idea of change. We have to participate in it.

Call to Action

If we want to end cycles of homelessness, we need more than temporary fixes. Start conversations in your own neighborhood. Support long-term programs over short-term solutions. Advocate for change that’s designed to last. Real dignity starts with real design–just like the systems Henry Mauriss is building.
