During the event, GHEI showcased its years of achievements in new energy development and corporate social responsibility to students from China and abroad. Young GHEI employees transformed into “new energy elective course” instructors, guiding students on a “journey across the blue ocean” to explore how the world’s first gigawatt-level offshore photovoltaic project–GHEI’s 1 GW offshore solar farm in Kenli, Shandong–converts sunlight into green electricity for daily life. A Greek engineer from GHEI Europe Renewable Energy Co., Ltd. (CEERE) also shared, via video link, the “magic” of wind energy at China’s first wind farm in Greece.
In the Q&A session, students actively engaged with technical experts about photovoltaic technology, embedding the green ideals of “new energy” into their minds through inquiry-based learning.
Students from Guohua Hope Central Primary School performed Beijing Qinshu (a folk performing art form of Beijing’s intangible cultural heritage (ICH), demonstrating the successful integration and transmission of intangible cultural heritage into quality education. During the collaborative art segment, students worked in groups to create paintings, songs and ICH paper-cuttings featuring solar panels, wind turbines, and fruit trees, weaving green energy concepts into cross-cultural creativity.
This event marked the kickoff of GHEI’s “New Energy, New Hope, New Future” New Energy into Campus Event. Through science lectures, ICH experiences, and art activities, it delivered an unforgettable “new energy elective course” to students at Guohua Hope Central Primary School–an institution the company has supported for 25 years. Simultaneously, 13 young participants from 10 BRI countries gained a multidimensional understanding of central state-owned enterprises’ role in industrial upgrading, technological innovation, and social welfare during the “Gen Z Energy Tour” – International Corporate Open Day. The event fostered cross-cultural understanding and friendships among youth from China and abroad, while also expanding the vision of a green future through a Gen Z lens.
As a key part of GHEI’s “New Energy into Campus” initiative, this event extended the “New Energy, New Hope, New Future” theme to plant clean energy awareness in schools both in China and abroad.
Since its founding, GHEI has regarded contributing to local communities and improving local people’s well-being as a core social responsibility. Since funding the construction of Guohua Hope Central Primary School in 2001 to the ongoing support through regular visits, the company has upheld its commitment. It has also supported the “Egg and Milk Program” in Shangyi County, Hebei, and annually carries out poverty alleviation campaigns, educational support, and “New Energy into Campus” initiatives across China’s 28 provincial-level regions, as well as in Greece and Australia.
