Yukon Plastics, the family-run startup from Canada’s North, has officially launched its groundbreaking Kickstarter campaign. After months of anticipation and momentum, the company is inviting backers from across North America to support a bold vision: transforming plastic waste into beautiful, functional everyday items–and proving that sustainable innovation flourishes in the small communities of Canada’s North.
“This isn’t just about making products–it’s about proving that plastic waste can have a second life,” say Founders Janna Swales and Will Powell. “With the support of backers from across North America, we can grow our operations and expand our product line. The goal? Let’s try to run out of waste plastic.”
The launch follows the success of Yukon Plastics’ pre-campaign push, which earned attention across Canada and ignited conversation around waste, innovation, and developing a circular economy in the Yukon. With over 154 kg of plastic already recycled this year and a goal of reaching 1,000 kg/1 tonne by the end of 2025. This goal enables Yukon Plastics to become a formal member of the Yukon’s waste management system and to scale production.
The Kickstarter campaign features a line of products crafted entirely from recycled plastic, including two exclusive new additions: the Yukon Keychain and a sleek, recycled plastic Side Table. Early supporters will also unlock limited-edition rewards and retailer stockist opportunities, with options for individuals, businesses, and even sustainable stays–from Airbnbs to hotels.
The campaign is live April 22nd 2025 and will run for a limited time. Every pledge supports a cleaner future and puts Northern ingenuity on the global sustainability stage.
