This year’s tournament will feature 15 teams from across the southeastern United States, representing vibrant youth groups from various churches, including:
Sacred Heart Knanaya Catholic Forane Church, Brandon, FL
St. Joseph Syro-Malabar Church – Seffner, FL
St. Jude Knanaya Catholic Church – Fort Lauderdale, FL
Zion Assembly of God – Hollywood, FL
St. Mary Syro-Malabar Church – Orlando, FL
Our Lady of Health Syro-Malabar Church – Coral Springs, FL
The competition will span three divisions: Middle School, High School, and College, giving young athletes a chance to showcase their talent, teamwork, and sportsmanship.
The tournament will be held on a brand-new basketball court, a project brought to life through the leadership of Rev. Dr. Joseph Adoppillil and Rev. Fr. Joby Puchookandathil, pastors of Sacred Heart Knanaya Catholic Forane Church. Their vision and commitment to youth engagement have made this facility–and event–possible.
Organized by the Mar Makil Basketball Tournament Organizing Committee, led by Justin Lukose and Jeffry Reni, the Mar Makil Basketball Tournament aims to foster fellowship, unity, and friendly competition among the youth of the Malayalee Christian community. Attendees can also enjoy a variety of delicious foods available on-site for a nominal fee.
