Gwyneth Paltrow is currently 52 years old and she has finally decided to be a lead for an upcoming against Timothée Chalamet who is currently 29 years old. There will be ‘a lot’ of sex scenes in the upcoming movie and while shooting them, Paltrow faced some inconvenience that she didn’t feel in her whole acting career.
Apparently, she had to ask the on-set intimacy coordinator to “step a little bit back” while filming the sex scene as the person was making her feel “very stifled” by telling her what to do in the intimate scene while it was supposed to be a natural outcome.
The upcoming movie is called Marty Supreme where Chalamet is playing the character of ping pong protégé and Paltrow plays the character of the wife of a rival professional who sleeps with him quite often.
Paltrow told in an interview, “I mean, we have a lot of sex in this movie,” and further, “There’s a lot – a lot.” She said that she was unaware of the fact that Hollywood movies assign such coordinators for such scenes. She expressed, “There’s now something called an intimacy co-ordinator, which I did not know existed.”
Actress-turned-wellness guru Paltrow came to acting in a lead after 10 years and she felt very uneasy when the coordinator tried to instruct her in a sex scene. Such coordinators came in place to make actors and actresses feel safe during intimate scenes after the Me Too movement took place in the industry. However, the story is the opposite in this case.
She said, “I was like, ‘Girl, I’m from the era where you get naked, you get in bed, the camera’s on’,” and then added, “I think we’re good. You can step a little bit back’.” She was quite frustrated and further added, “I don’t know how it is for kids who are starting out, but… if someone is like, ‘OK, and then he’s going to put his hand here,’ I would feel, as an artist, very stifled by that.”
Paltrow joked about their age gap and said, “I’m 109 years old. You’re 14,” addressing Chalamet. She further appreciated the young man saying, “He’s just a very polite, properly raised, I was going to say kid… he’s a man who takes his work really seriously and is a fun partner.”
Well, sometimes Hollywood can be very absurd when it comes to filming movies and Paltrow has just witnessed that after making a comeback.
