(Isstories Editorial):- London, United Kingdom Feb 6, 2025 (Issuewire.com) – On April 20, 2025, audiences will be transported into a world of mystery and illusion with Mirtillo – Numerus IX, the latest cinematic work from multidisciplinary artist and filmmaker Desiderio Sanzi. Distributed by Filmhub – USA, the feature will be available on major streaming platforms, marking a bold evolution of the Mirtillo project.
Following the critically acclaimed Mirtillo – Numerus I–an internationally recognized short film currently streaming on Amazon Fire TV–this new chapter delves deeper into a surreal and evocative medieval world, where history and myth are inseparably entwined.
Set in 14th-century plague-ridden Europe, Mirtillo – Numerus IX follows Andruccio, a fugitive escaping the condemned village of Coccorone in search of refuge in Triora, the fabled “city of witches.” But his journey for salvation soon unravels into an odyssey where the boundaries between the living and the dead dissolve, and echoes of lost legends rise once more. Stalked by an unseen force, Andruccio faces spectral entities and encounters forgotten myths brought eerily to life.
“This film is not just a story–it is an experience designed to disorient and immerse. The Middle Ages were ruled by fear, where myths shaped perception. With Mirtillo – Numerus IX, I wanted the audience to feel the weight of an era where reality itself was a fragile illusion.” – Desiderio Sanzi
Bringing this haunting vision to the screen is a stellar cast: Fabio Fieri as Andruccio, Paolo Baiocco as the Monk, Francesco Sechi as the Hanged Man, and Marco Marianucci as the Mage. Cinematographer Daniele Cruccolini captures this atmospheric world with striking, dreamlike imagery, while Elena Nati lends her voice as the Narrator, guiding the audience through a tale of fate and illusion.
Sanzi’s artistic vision has been showcased at some of the most prestigious art and film events worldwide, including the 54th Venice Biennale (Cuban Pavilion, 2011), the Havana Biennale (2012, 2015), and the 4th Biennale Fin del Mundo (Chile, 2015). His films explore the fragile boundaries between history, metaphysical storytelling, and the subconscious.
With Mirtillo – Numerus IX, Sanzi defies traditional genres, weaving medieval history with symbolism and existential reflection. This feature film expands upon the Mirtillo universe, immersing audiences in a world where ancient fears awaken, and survival is not about escaping fate–but confronting it.
Mirtillo – Numerus IX will be available for streaming starting April 20, 2025, distributed by Filmhub – USA. Step beyond the limits of time–where myth and destiny intertwine.
