The good news is that you don’t have to wait for it much longer now. Now that you’re excited about the new year let’s explore some of the movie options you can explore while celebrating the joy of the new year.
Superman
It is an upcoming American superhero film based on DC Comics featuring the eponymous character. Produced by DC Studios and to be distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures, it will be the first film in the DC Universe (DCU) and a reboot of the Superman film series. The film is written and directed by James Gunn and stars David Corenswet as Clark Kent / Superman, alongside Rachel Brosnahan, Nicholas Hoult, Edi Gathegi, Anthony Carrigan, Nathan Fillion, Isabela Merced, Skyler Gisondo, Sara Sampaio, María Gabriela de Faría, Wendell Pierce, Alan Tudyk, Pruitt Taylor Vince, and Neva Howell. In the film, Superman’s journey to reconcile his alien heritage with his human family is explored.
Warfare
Alex Garland returns with Warfare, his upcoming film set during the U.S. invasion of Iraq. The story, centered on Navy SEALs, portrays the harsh realities of warfare through the experiences of soldiers on the ground.Warfare takes place in Iraq during 2006, a pivotal period of the Iraq War. The narrative follows a platoon of American Navy SEALs stationed in an Iraqi family’s home. The soldiers monitor insurgent activity while navigating intense and unpredictable combat situations. The story captures the emotional and physical toll of war, delivering an immersive real-time experience.The film features a large ensemble cast, including D’Pharaoh Woon-A-Tai, Will Poulter, Joseph Quinn, Charles Melton, and Kit Connor. Other notable actors include Cosmo Jarvis, Michael Gandolfini, Noah Centineo, and Evan Holtzman. The cast portrays soldiers and civilians dealing with the war’s harsh reality.
Jurassic World Rebirth

Snow White
Disney’s Snow White,or simply Snow White, is an upcoming American musical fantasy film directed by Marc Webb from a screenplay by Greta Gerwig and Erin Cressida Wilson. Produced by Walt Disney Pictures and Marc Platt Productions, it is a live-action reimagining of Walt Disney Productions’ 1937 animated film Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, which itself is based on the 1812 fairy tale ‘Snow White’ by the Brothers Grimm. The film stars Rachel Zegler, Andrew Burnap, and Gal Gadot.Plans for a remake of 1937’s Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs were confirmed in October 2016, with Wilson announced as a screenwriter. Webb entered talks to direct the film in May 2019 and was announced as director in September 2019. Filming took place primarily in London, England from March to July 2022, with additional filming and pick-ups taking place in June 2024. The film elicited pre-release controversies, with criticism levied against the color-blind casting, story changes, Zegler’s public disapproval of the original film, and reimagining of the Seven Dwarfs.Snow White is scheduled to be released in theatres in the United States by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures on March 21, 2025.
Karate Kid: Legends
It is an upcoming American martial arts drama film directed by Jonathan Entwistle and written by Rob Lieber. Featuring a storyline set three years after the events of Cobra Kai final season,it is the sixth film in The Karate Kid franchise, following The Karate Kid (2010). It stars Jackie Chan and Ralph Macchio, both reprising their roles from previous films while introducing Ben Wang as the main lead for his film debut alongside Joshua Jackson, Sadie Stanley, and Ming-Na Wen. It is the first film in the series not to be produced by Jerry Weintraub who died in 2015.The film was confirmed to be in development in September 2022, with Entwistle set to direct and Lieber set to write the screenplay in November 2023. It serves as a sequel to the original films of the franchise starring Macchio and the 2010 film starring Chan, merging them with Cobra Kai in a single shared universe.[4] Casting took place from November 2023 to April 2024. Filming took place from April to June 2024.
28 Years Later
It is an upcoming post-apocalyptic horror film produced and directed by Danny Boyle, and written by Alex Garland. It is the third film in the 28 Days Later series, following 28 Days Later (2002) and 28 Weeks Later (2007). It stars Jodie Comer, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, and Ralph Fiennes. The film marks the returns of Boyle, Garland, and cinematographer Anthony Dod Mantle to the series, all of whom worked on the original 28 Days Later film, with that film’s star Cillian Murphy also serving as an executive producer. The plot shows that it has been almost three decades since the Rage Virus escaped a medical research laboratory, and in a ruthlessly enforced quarantine, some have found ways to exist amidst the infected. One such group of survivors lives on a small island connected to the mainland by a single, heavily-defended causeway. When one of the group leaves the island on a mission into the dark heart of the mainland, they discover secrets, wonders, and horrors of the outside world.
Dog Man
Dog Man is an upcoming American animated superhero comedy film based on Dav Pilkey’s children’s graphic novel series Dog Man, produced by DreamWorks Animation and distributed by Universal Pictures. A spin-off and story within a story of Captain Underpants: The First Epic Movie (2017) and the second film in the Captain Underpants franchise, it is being directed by Peter Hastings. The film stars the voices of Pete Davidson, Lil Rel Howery, Isla Fisher, Poppy Liu, Stephen Root, Billy Boyd, and Ricky Gervais with Hastings providing vocal effects for the titular character.DreamWorks Animation announced a film adaptation of Dog Man in December 2020, with Hastings set to direct after his experience with Pilkey’s works from The Epic Tales of Captain Underpants (2018–2020). Karen Foster joined as a producer in January 2024, and the cast was announced that September.Dog Man is scheduled to be theatrically released in the United States on January 31, 2025.When a human police officer named Knight and his dog Greg are injured together on the job, a life-saving surgery changes the course of history when Dog Man is born. Dog Man must protect and serve as he doggedly pursues the feline Petey the Cat, but the unexpected arrival of Li’l Petey changes their dynamic.
Mission: Impossible 8
Tom Cruise’s upcoming movie, Mission: Impossible 8, now titled The Final Reckoning, has revealed its first trailer and official release date. The film, originally intended as a follow-up to Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning, this title replaces the original designation as Part Two of the previous movie, Dead Reckoning which is scheduled to premiere in May 2025. Several key actors are set to return in this installment. Angela Bassett reprises her role as Erika Sloane, CIA Director, first introduced in Mission: Impossible – Fallout. Esai Morales, who plays the antagonist Gabriel, returns after his appearance in Dead Reckoning. Morales’s character is set on finding The Entity, an AI program with significant implications.
The cast also includes familiar faces like Simon Pegg, Ving Rhames, Hayley Atwell, and Vanessa Kirby.Hannah Waddingham, Janet McTeer, Holt McCallany, Katy O’Brian, Nick Offerman and Tramell Tillman join the franchise.The Final Reckoning follows Ethan Hunt, played by Cruise, as he confronts a powerful AI threat. This AI, known as The Entity, has the potential to create catastrophic outcomes if it falls into the wrong hands. In Dead Reckoning, Ethan discovered that The Entity is hidden on an old Russian submarine, setting up the primary conflict of the new movie.
The Bad Guys 2
It is an upcoming American computer-animated heist comedy film loosely based on the children’s book series of the same name by Aaron Blabey, produced by DreamWorks Animation Studios and distributed by Universal Pictures. It is the sequel to The Bad Guys (2022). It will be the studio’s 49th feature film. Sam Rockwell, Marc Maron, Zazie Beetz, Craig Robinson, Awkwafina, Anthony Ramos, and Alex Borstein reprise their roles from the previous film, while Danielle Brooks, Natasha Lyonne, and Maria Bakalova join the cast.The Bad Guys 2 is scheduled to be released in the United States on August 1, 2025. It will be Dreamworks’ 49th feature film.
The Bad Guys 2 follows the crackerjack criminal crew of animal outlaws who are struggling to find trust and acceptance in their newly minted lives as Good Guys. However, they’re pulled out of retirement and forced to do ‘one last job’ by an all-female squad of criminals.
