Board-certified in cardiovascular disease and internal medicine, Dr. Dobies is a Diplomate of the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). Joining multiple professional bodies, Dobies is an active member of the Royal Society of Medicine, the European Society of Cardiology, the Royal Statistical Society, the American Medical Association, the Michigan State Medical Society, the Genesee County Medical Society, and the Arkansas State Medical Society. He is also a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology (FACC).

Interventional cardiology is a branch of cardiology that deals specifically with the catheter based treatment of structural heart diseases.
