Born and raised in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Dr. Taylor received his undergraduate degree in biology from Shippensburg University. He then went on to graduate with his Doctor of Medicine in Dentistry degree from the UNC Claude A. Adams Jr. and Grace Phillips Adams School of Dentistry in 2010.

Among his dental professional affiliations, he is an active member of the American Dental Association and the North Carolina Dental Society.

Very active in the community, he is a volunteer leader for his church’s youth ministry, as well as coaches basketball, soccer, and flag football in youth leagues. During the summers, his family hosts 2 players from the Wilson Tobs minor league baseball team. In addition, he passionately plays in both city and Hispanic recreational adult soccer leagues in Rocky Mount and Wilson. However, his most impressive athletic accomplishments came as a distance runner, including winning the 2000 Pittsburgh Marathon, as well as placing 28th at the 2004 U.S. Olympic Marathon Trials.
